The method involves determining and storing the pressure drop rates of fuel injection valves of an engine in respective on and off states of the valves using allowed speed of the engine and a reference pressure of a high pressure circuit. The pressure drop rates of the fuel injection valves are compared among each other in a built-in condition, or with an absolute threshold value for determining the fuel injection quantity of the valves. An independent claim is also included for a computer program for measuring the control quantity of an injection valve in a high pressure injection system.
