The method involves actuating the pressure reduction valve (26) in high pressure circuit (14) using control device (20) during stopping the internal combustion engine. The time period of lag with respect to pressure reduction valve is determined based on detected physical quantity representing temperature or pressure inside the motor car. The physical quantity is detected during standstill of combustion engine. An independent claim is included for arrangement for reducing pressure in high pressure circuit of injection system of internal combustion engine in motor car.
