The method involves switching on an aggregate with an engine revolution, which falls below a preset revolution threshold value, and a load, which lie on an internal combustion engine and exceeds a preset load threshold value. The threshold values of revolution and/or load are variable and are provided in a revolution load characteristic diagram. The aggregate is an air conditioning compressor to operate an air conditioning system.
