Process for mullit production involving:suspesion of Al powder in an aqueous SiO2-sol suspension in which the diameter of the SiO2 particles is 5-20 nm, freezing granulation of the suspension obtained, optional sintering of the granulate, especially compacting of the green body obtained at 1050-1600[deg]C.
