To form a joint (13) in concrete surfaces (10), and especially between two concrete slabs (12), a joint profile (21) is inserted at the joint to prevent the entry of fresh concrete. The profile remains in place after concrete has been poured and is bonded into it at least partially. The joint has a larger cross section in a zone (31) at the upper surface (15) of the concrete than at the bottom (30) of the joint. A joint seal (32) is supported from below by the profile.
