A rear hinge (1) has a triangular-shaped carrier mechanism (3) attached to a front hood, a joint (7) provided on the carrier mechanism, and a hinge plate (4) affixed to the vehicle body and including an elongate slot (5) engaged with the joint. In operation, the joint is slid along the slot, in parallel to the vehicle length, to a backward hood closed position (8) or to a forward hood opened position (9). The carrier mechanism is pivoted relative to the joint to enable hood closing/opening, when the joint is in either position.
