A laying control unit for braiding machines with at least one wire-laying lever (WLL) with wire guide(s) (WGD) to guide a wire along from preset positions, a lever guide element (LGE) for the lever and a lever guide device (LGD), in which (a) the WLL is rotatable and comprises two arms with the WGD mounted on one and the LGE on the other, (b) the LGD and LGE act together to guide the WLL and (c) a spatial curve is defined by the LGD which causes the WGD to move along the preset positions.
