The system has an anticipatory video sensor (3.1) whose detection region (30) lies in the driving direction of a vehicle. Another video sensor (3.5) faces downward for supporting the video sensor (3.1). The detection region (31) of the video sensor (3.5) overlaps partially with the detection region of the video sensor (3.1). The video sensors are based on charge coupled device (CCD) technology, complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology or far infrared ray (FIR) technology.
