The unit has two connection units (1, 3) between which a pressure unit is clamped, and a differential pressure measuring device (21) is lockable at a pressure connection. A pressure measuring device (31) determines a hydrostatic pressure in a stand pipe (27). An evaluation unit (39) determines characteristics of the pressure unit based on the measured hydrostatic pressure and differential pressure measured with the device (21). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for measuring a change of a volume enclosed in a separating membrane of a pressure unit using a test unit (2) a method for recording a characteristic of a pressure unit (3) a method for determining a rigidity of a separating membrane of a pressure unit (4) a method for determining a characteristic for a maximum volume enclosed in a separating membrane (5) a method for producing pressure units having differential pressure measuring sensors (6) a method for quality control and/or quality assurance of pressure units.
