Motion control system for a road vehicle in lane changing uses speed and lateral object position sensors

The Road vehicle has an on board controller [SG] that forms the basis of a speed regulation system [AF]. A signal [FSW] indicates a change in road lane and the system reacts to lateral position sensors [ SLre,SLli] as well as the vehicle speed [vE]. The processor determines a safe manoeuvre relative to any detected vehicle.
