The method involves mounting a sensor (1) e.g. temperature sensor, directly adjacent to the plants in the soil or above the soil, and directly connecting an output of the sensor with a display unit (2) that consists of a LED. The sensor and the display unit are connected with an electronics/power supply unit (3) by using electrical connections, where the power supply unit consists of an electronic switch with a coin cell or solar cell. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for determining and displaying a growth parameter of plants.
