The method involves triggering an airbag module (100), receiving acoustic signal (128) produced as a result of triggering, and examining whether the acoustic signal fulfills a given parameter (130). The examination is implemented in a time domain and a frequency domain and it is examined whether the acoustic signal lies between a lower and an upper limiting curve. A signal is generated based on the result of the examination, where the signal is outputted and/or stored. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product with computer executable instructions for implementing an examination of an airbag module (2) a device for examining an airbag module.
