The assembly has a gearbox (5) for drive-connecting the assembly with drive wheels (19, 20) of an axle of a motor vehicle, where the gearbox includes force transmission devices (22-25). One of the devices (22-25) is provided with a rotatory operating decoupling device (33) for reducing pressure points during switch over between a driven shaft (9) of the gearbox and a drive shaft (15) for the wheels. The device (33) is operative by play and absorption or by play and friction. The decoupling device is provided between a coupling body and a gear wheel of a synchronization device (62).
