The injector has a directly actuatable injection valve unit (11) with a nozzle needle (13), and a piezo actuator (20). A pressure surface (231) is formed at a nozzle needle-sided coupler piston (23). The surface (231) together with an actuator-sided pressure surface (233) formed at the actuator-sided coupler piston (22) points into a coupler area (25). A sliding sleeve (30) is guided and axially displaceable at the piston (23), and separates a high-pressure chamber (17) from a nozzle needle-pressure chamber (16) by a sealing seat (28).
