The machine has a control console (2) e.g. touch screen, arranged position changeably, and a position detector (8a, 8b, 8c) provided for detecting the position of the control console. A control (23) freely switches or locks certain functions of the machine in dependence of the specific position of the control console. The position detector directs a signal to the control when the control console is situated in predetermined regions. An independent claim is also included for a method for labeling a container e.g. bottle.
