The device has a handle with bristles (1), a grip (2) and an indicating device (3) that is provided as a tooth cleaning time indicator and/or a usage indicator. The indicating device has a non-electronic medium that changes from one condition to another condition due to the movement of the toothbrush during a tooth cleaning process. The change of the medium from one condition to another is optically recognizable. The color of the medium changes as the medium changes from one condition to another condition with increased duration of the fluid effect. An independent claim is also included for an indicating device as cleaning time indicator and/or a usage indicator for a tooth cleaning device.
