The network has a back end server (1), and a set of front end servers (2, 3, 4) to which user equipments e.g. laptop (5), personal computers (6, 8) and personal digital assistant (PDA) (7), are assigned. Each user equipment has a program for a hardware controller, and a browser, and each front end server has another program for a graphical user interface of the associated user equipments. The personal computers communicate with a cluster system through the network. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a cluster system with a back end server and front end servers to which user equipments are assigned (2) a user equipment for a cluster system comprising a program (3) an on-line operating system for a user equipment.
