The device has a sealing device (20) and a sealing unit (14), where magnetic force is produced for sealing a container (10). The sealing device is formed such that only a part such as an edge of the sealing unit is subjected to the magnetic force. The sealing device comprises two half shells that are movable transverse to a longitudinal axis of the container. A plunger (24) is connected with the sealing device.
