Shaped article (A) containing an aluminosilicate (I) and aluminum oxide (II) having Al:Si mole ratio 10-30 and, for pores of diameter over 1 nm, it has at least bimodal pore distribution, with the volume of pores of diameter over 10 nm being at least 40% of total pore volume. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method for preparing (A); and (2) method for continuous production of methylamines by reacting methanol and/or dimethyl ether with ammonia in presence of (A) as heterogeneous catalyst.
