The device has a pneumatically adjustable actuator (5), and a pneumatic servo drive (6) for adjusting the actuator. An electro-pneumatic position controller (1) is provided for controlling the drive based on a position controller-reference value and a control variable. A pneumatic bypass booster (11) is switched and adjusted such that the bypass booster operates with small changes of signals of the position controller-reference value.
