The stamping device has a stamping tool (20) mounted on a support (10) between two parallel spaced retaining strips (12, 14) which together form a dovetailed undercut section. The stamping tool has a cross-sectional profile with an incline on both sides corresponding to the dovetailed section and the dimensions of the strips and stamping tool are such that by drawing up the strips to the support the stamping tool is tensioned against the support. The retaining strips are fixed on the support by screws (16,18).
