The treatment of dumping waste material (8) includes treating the waste material with washing water, removing the washing water from the waster material, treating fresh garbage (10) with second washing water, removing the washing water from the garbage, and blending the washing water and the fresh garbage with one another in a pre-determined ratio to form a sludge-water mixture (15). The washing water is loaded with a swimming and floating fraction. The sludge-water mixture is biologically purified under receipt of clarified sludge (18). The treatment of dumping waste material (8) includes treating the waste material with washing water, removing the washing water from the waster material, treating fresh garbage (10) with second washing water, removing the washing water from the garbage, and blending the washing water and the fresh garbage with one another in a pre-determined ratio to form a sludge-water mixture (15). The washing water is loaded with a swimming and floating fraction. The sludge-water mixture is biologically purified under receipt of clarified sludge (18). The dumping waste material and the fresh garbage are immersed in the washing waters respectively and are disintegrated and agitated during the water treatments. The dumping waste material and the fresh garbage and/or their residual substance fraction are supplied to different loading stages during the water treatment. The supplying speed of the waste material and the fresh garbage are changed. A chemical oxygen demand of the washing water are determined and a biological oxygen demand of the second washing water is determined. The biological oxygen demand of the sludge-water mixture is adjusted to 2.5 times the chemical oxygen demand of the sludge-water mixture. The residual substance fraction received from the waste material and the residual substance fraction from the fresh garbage are blended with one another to form a residual substance mixture (32), which is disintegrated and biologically dried. The residual substance mixture is mixed with the clarified sludge before the biological drying process. The dried residual substance mixture is thermally processed under receipt of heat energy and inert materials. The heat energy is converted into mechanical energy needed for the process cycle of the processing of the dumping waste material. An independent claim is included for a treatment plant for the dumping waste material.
