Method connects first strip of filter material to a second strip of filter material. A straight section from the first strip (10) is placed crosswise onto a straight section of the second strip (20), forming a right-angled essentially square overlap area (30) of both filter strips. The filter strips are each joined by means of a diagonal seam (31) running between the two end points of the overlap area.
