The device has a heating wire (21) with a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) characteristics and/or PTC thermistor characteristics. The wire is arranged in a longitudinal housing (1) under tensile stress with a deflection in an elastic region (A). The wire is formed as fluid temperature sensor with an evaluation circuit through units for voltage measurement when the current is applied. The wire is formed as filling level sensor by connection with a computer unit with an integrator by determination of a heat energy delivered to the fluid. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a level and a temperature of a fluid.
