Hot-formed and press-hardened structural or safety component for a motor vehicle comprises high-strength steel with an anticorrosion layer of zinc/iron alloy that is produced by solid phase diffusion and is less than 10 mu m thick. An independent claim is also included for producing a component as above by fixing a hot-formed and press-hardened structural or safety component in heating chamber and dusting all sides of the component with a zinc sherardizing powder at a temperature below 320[deg]C.
