The unit has a cup-shaped tappet (10) with a base (20) and formed for movable arrangement in a workspace of a high pressure pump (1). A piston rod (6) with a front side is movably arranged in a work cylinder of the pump. A power transmission unit (19) has two curved regions which stand in intervention with a curved region of the front side and a curved region of the tappet base, respectively. The curved regions are curved concave or convex, and the respective intervention of the curved region arrives a condition that respectively a convex curved region intervenes in a concave curved region.
