The arrangement has a power switching circuit, in which heating units (11-14) are connected. A control circuit controls coupler switches (21-27), where the switching circuit and the control circuit are electrically connected by the coupler switches. A fuse switch (5) is connected in the control circuit and is operatable depending on the temperature of a cooking device in such a manner, that a power supply at the heating units is interruptible via the coupler switch by the power switching circuit during exceeding of marginal temperature of the cooking device. An independent claim is also included for a method of preventing overheating of a cooking device.
