A driver circuit (3) has several semiconductor switches (11) such as power transistors, and phase nodes (K) for providing phase voltage to the electric machine (2). The constant signal current is provided by a power supply unit. The voltage between phase nodes is measured by a voltage measurement unit (14). The semiconductor switches of the driver circuit are operated as the components of the power supply unit, to provide the constant signal current. The voltage measurement unit is provided to detect voltage between phase node and the supply potential. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) system for measuring temperature of coil winding in electronically commutated electric machine; and (2) method for measuring temperature of coil winding in electronically commutated electric machine.
