The method involves using a ceramic material e.g. oxide-base, spinel-base, zirconium oxide-base and aluminum oxide-base ceramic materials, for production of a dental restoration unit. An expanded model of a tooth situation is dependent on shrink of the ceramic material occurring during sintering of the ceramic material so that the expanded model is expanded towards a model of the tooth situation about a factor that is produced in a scale 1:1. A computer aided design (CAD)/computer aided manufacturing (CAM) system is used for producing the expanded model of the tooth situation of the patient. An independent claim is also included for an expanded model of a tooth situation of a patient constructed based on data of the tooth situation of the patient.
