The method involves creating a three-dimensional model of a bite splint (100) using a computer by estimating an upper chewing surface (120) of the bite splint based on the shape of a jaw of a patient, where the upper chewing surface contacts the jaw during use of bite splint. The bite splint is manufactured based on the created three-dimensional model. The shape of the jaw is determined by direct measurement using a sensor e.g. acoustic sensor, where contact points (140) between the upper chewing surface and the jaw are adjustable. An independent claim is also included for a system for computer-aided manufacturing of bite splints, comprising a computer.
