The method involves pre-assembling a steering knuckle (2) with a joint shank (1) with a partial connection of a swivel head (4) with the knuckle and joint shank. A distance-retentive aiding unit (18) is arranged in an assembly gap (17). A firm connection is made between shank ends and a bearing inner ring (9) of a movable bearing (5) by attaching the inner ring at a recess (10) in a bearing carrier of the joint shank. The aiding unit is detached between the knuckle and joint shank, where the knuckle and joint shank of a step pin (20) and the aiding unit are formed as single-piece. An independent claim is also included for a wheel guide articulated joint device for a propelled axle of a motor vehicle.
