The vehicle light has a housing (1) accommodating a light module (2), and a translucent closing plate (4) covering a front opening of the housing. A marking (7) is produced by a laser technology in an inner side of the closing plate. The marking is inserted only in an outer side of the closing plate by the laser technology in the inner side of the closing plate. The closing plate has a corner region and an annular region on the inner side adjacent to the marking. The translucent closing plate is made of plastic e.g. polycarbonate. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a marking on a closing plate of a vehicle light.
