The device has a heating unit (12) for rod-shaped products e.g. filter rods (20). A support drum (16), a coil rail (18), a lifting barrel and a transport drum are provided for feeding the rod-shaped products in a longitudinal axial and transverse axial direction through a transport passage. The heating unit heats the products during their feeding by the support drum, the rail, the lifting barrel and the transport drum. The transport passage and/or a hardening section for the products are helically designed.
