The method involves filling liquid e.g. water, in a washing tank and rotating a rotary linen loading drum while maintaining a liquid heating unit in stop state, during a linen damping phase. The heating unit is operated, and the drum is maintained in stop position during a heating step (A) in a hot washing phase. The operation of the heating unit is stopped, and the drum is rotated during a mixing step (B) in the hot washing phase. The hot washing phase is implemented with the liquid introduced into the washing tank and mixed with a detergent product. An independent claim is also included for a linen washing machine.
