The regulating process comprises initiating a closing process at closing start (wem2) and closing the valve at a closing time point. The actual value of the closing time point is measured. A setting error is reported as a deviation from an intended closing time point (wse-soll). A regulator is then set to minimize the error on the basis of what was reported.
