The method involves switching on and/or switching over of a protective shield for protection from logical access of an operating system and an application program by physical storing of certain data of a master-boot-record-area (MBR) in a selected area and simultaneous deletion of the data in the MBR area. The selected area is varied by the application program, and a function is switched off by restoring the stored data in an original area.
