The system has an electric motor (8c) with an output shaft (8b) providing an output of a steering gear, so that track rods are shifted by controlling the motor. A flexible transmission unit (3) is provided between a steering wheel (1) and an input unit of the gear, so that a steering request given by a driver is transferred to a left steerable front wheel (7a) and right steerable front-wheel (7b) via the gear. The unit (3) acts on the shaft, such that an intermediate gear (8a) is utilized between the shaft and a linearly shiftable gear unit of the gear, where the rods are coupled at the gear.
