The circuit has two threshold deciders, and compares an impact signal with a threshold value (23) of one of the deciders, where the respective threshold values are formed based on the function of the speed and/or the acceleration. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a person protection unit as a function of a surrounding signal and an impact signal.
