The book or brochure has several folded sheets (2) folded along folds (3) and bounded in a block spine. A string-or cord shaped book mark (5) consists of a free end and a fixing end, which is guided through a hole (6) pierced in the area of the folds and is fixed at the folded sheets. The fixing end is fixed at the rear side of the folded sheet by adhesion or welding. The hole in the upper region of the folded sheet is provided in a shorter distance to a head edge of the folded sheet. An independent claim is also included for a method for mechanical fixing of a string-or cord shaped book mark at a folded sheet folded along a fold.
