A membrane clutch, especially for a motorcycle has a multi plate dry clutch (18) operated by a membrane spring (17) with a thrust stud (20) to press onto the throwout bearing (19). To ensure coaxial alignment of the stud an axial extension (21) of the stud slides inside a bore in the input drive shaft. This prevents the clutch plates tilting and enables the use of a digressive characteristic clutch spring.
