Preparation of a mixture containing 7(8)-formyl-bicyclo[4.3.0]non-3-ene, 3(4)-formyl-bicyclo[4.3.0]non-7-ene, 2-formyl-bicyclo[4.3.0]non-7-ene and 5-formyl-bicyclo[4.3.0]non-7-ene by hydroformylation of bicyclo[4.3.0]nona-3,7-diene, comprises reacting bicyclo[4.3.0]nona-3,7-diene with a synthesis gas in homogeneous organic phase in presence of a transition metal compounds of group VIII, at 70-150[deg] C and 5-35 MPa, where the reaction takes place in the absence of complex forming compounds of group V. An independent claim is included for the mixture obtained by the above process.
