The air bearing table construction comprises mechanical components for the adjustment of the center of gravity and for the geometric shape retentiveness. The mechanical components are separated from each other. The specific geometry is adjusted by the adjusting units. The residual interference elements existing after precise adjustment are compared by an active compensation comprising a calibration step through the working area and by a working point related active counter moment generation.
