The filter cartridge for inserting into a water tank (2) of beverage machine, comprises a housing (6), an ion exchanger (32) for water softening arranged inside of the housing, an inlet (10) for supplying water from the water tank into the housing, and an outlet (12) for discharging of water from the housing into the beverage machine. Between the inlet and the outlet, a bypass (28) is arranged, by which a part of the water brought into the housing flows past to the outlet. The inlet is arranged at the lower end of an ascending tube leading at the ion exchanger. The filter cartridge, for inserting into a water tank (2) of beverage machine, comprises a housing (6), an ion exchanger (32) for water softening arranged inside of the housing, an inlet (10) for supplying water from the water tank into the housing, and an outlet (12) for discharging of water from the housing into the beverage machine. Between the inlet and the outlet, a bypass (28) is arranged, by which a part of the water brought into the housing flows past to the outlet. The inlet is arranged at the lower end of an ascending tube leading at the ion exchanger. The flow cross-section of the bypass is less than one-fifth of the flow cross-section of the ascending tube. The bypass flows outside of the ion exchanger in a mixing chamber (30) arranged in front of the outlet. In the mixing chamber, the water flowing by the bypass is mixed with the water flowing by exchanger. The bypass is an opening formed in the wall of the ascending tube. A particle filter and/or an activated charcoal filter are arranged between the mixing chamber and the outlet. An activated charcoal filter is arranged between the upper end of the ascending tube and the ion exchanger and comprises activated charcoal fibers in the form of fleece or fabric. A filter is arranged between the ion exchanger and the mixing chamber. The ion exchanger comprises a bed from ion exchanger granulates. The outlet projects over a bottom of the housing. A seal is arranged between the outlet and the water tank. The housing is connectable with the water tank by an adapter and is provided with a date indicator on its topside. An independent claim is included for beverage machine with a water tank.
