A micro-structure luminescence converter has a capillary plate with an array of numerous parallel capillary tubes. Each tube contains a luminophor that absorbs X-rays and is excited to emit light in the UV or IR visible range. One or more capillary walls either reflects the light so generated within the capillary tube or redirects the incident light beam. Further claimed is manufacturing process.
