The suction- and high pressure connections (3, 5) are sealed off from the hydraulic fluid (4) storage chamber (7) in the pump (1), during storage and transport. The seal (6) remains in place until the pump is connected into the hydraulic system. It is a reservoir plug (8). Suitable design prevents hydraulic fluid from running out from the seal, when removed from the pump. It is rotationally-symmetrical. It is secured to the inlet or outlet by a screw connection (9). Its outer thread seals with an internal thread on the pump connection.
