Soil monolith removing device comprises a retainer and a receiver device for a lysimeter jar (14) containing soil monolith (12), where a displacement device, which acts on the soil monolith and/or the lysimeter jar, is provided for continuous or gradual displacement of the soil monolith from the lysimeter jar, a separating device (32) has a separating rope (34), which is guided at an inner wall of the jar for separating the soil monolith, and another separating device (38) is provided for separating slices of predetermined thickness from the soil monolith. An independent claim is also included for a method for removing soil monolith from a lysimeter jar.
