The display (20) has lighting structures with display units such as glow lamps (22a-22c). The voltage impact at one lamp is changed and/or active condition of the lamp is changed, after the operation of a stove top and/or a heating operation at a cooking pit, when the cooling-off time exceeds a marginal temperature. A thermochrome material is provided at the lamps, where the activation temperature of the materials lies within the marginal temperature. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for providing a residual heat display for a stove top (2) a use of a glow lamp or a halogen lamp for an electric heating device.
