Agent for the effective lowering of increased cholesterol levels, comprises long chain carboxylic acid on the basis of montana waxes as well as their derivatives (VLCFA: very long-chained fatty acid) and/or guerbet acid or their derivatives or the corresponding components of carnauba wax or shellack, where the long chain carboxylic acids possess a chain length distribution of 14-40 carbons, preferably 28-40 carbons. ACTIVITY : Antilipemic. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
