Agent for the effective lowering of increased cholesterol levels in the blood, comprises long-chain carboxylic acid on the basis of montana waxes as well as their derivatives (VLCFA3: very long-chained fatty acid constituent of montana wax taking part in the fatty alcohol metabolic cycle) and/or guerbet wax or their derivate or the corresponding components of carnauba wax or shellack, where the long-chain carboxylic acids possess a chain length distribution of 14-40 carbons, preferably 28-40 carbons. ACTIVITY : Antilipemic. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
