The method involves assigning a building height (G) to an outline of a multistoried building, where the height from earth`s surface to a roof edge is utilized as a building height .A roof pitch is determined from a roof height (H) and position of a roof apex point (S) by an evaluation unit, where the position considers gradient and length of a roof ridge (F). The roof height and the positions of roof apex point are stored, and a structure is assigned to a roof area. An independent claim is also included for a navigation system comprising a display.
